Born in Paris to a Vietnamese father and a French mother, Barbara Bui entered the world of fashion when she opened a studio-boutique in Paris. Her first fashion show took place in 1987, followed by the first boutique opening in rue Etienne Marcel in Paris. The Barbara Bui label was officially born.

In 1998, Barbara Bui was introduced to the stock market. The next year, the opening of the first flagship store in Paris took place, followed by new boutiques in New York and Milan.

In 2000, Barbara Bui launched her first luxury accessories collection - handbags and shoes. In order to enhance the brand's image, Barbara Bui collaborated with high profile fashion photographers, such as David Bailey.

In 2003, the designer launched Bui de Barbara Bui, "urban cool" line. In 2007, Barbara Bui opened new boutiques in Milan, Moscow and Russia, and she also partnered with Chalhoub Group in the Middle East. The following two years, the designer opened a new flagship store in Paris, boutiques in Seoul, Monaco and Krasnodar (Russia) and launched the Atame, the first silver jewellry collection.

Barbara Bui will present in Athens Xclusive Designers Week a preview of her Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. Stolen from the MASCULIN wardrobe, the pieces are both nonchalant and cocooning for a sleek, active-wear sillouette. The Graphic platform shoes enhance the vibe. The Clutch carried in the hand for a mini-flash of colour. An exclamation point of humor and feminity.
